Identify Chinese jujube and its stone
Chinese jujube is Ziziphus jujuba, also called red date or Chinese date. Its hard central stone and the lot’s maturity, cultivar and drying history affect handling and the selected separation trial.
Distinguish similarly named fruit
Date palm is Phoenix dactylifera and Indian jujube is Ziziphus mauritiana. Similar dried appearance or trade names do not transfer date-syrup process data or another species’ rheology to Chinese jujube.
Record the actual lot and sample
Keep supplier and lot identity, stated botanical name, fresh or dried state, size range and prior processing with whole-fruit and opened-fruit photographs or representative samples.
Use the identity source for identity
New Mexico State University Extension Guide H-330 describes the Chinese jujube central stone and its distinction from date palm and Indian jujube. This source informs material identification; the equipment trial still uses the actual lot.
